Publicist Andy Friedenberg, founder of the San Diego Cinema Society and the founding Artistic Director of the Coronado Island Film Festival, spoke to Downtown San Diego Rotary club on Wednesday morning.

Andy gave an entertaining presentation, beginning with stories about his encounters with celebrated actors such as Charlton Heston and Ernest Borgnine. When they met, Borgnine invited the 23-year-old Andy to call him “Ernie”—a memorable gesture.
Andy also described how films were promoted through elaborate, star-studded premieres. At the opening of The Ten Commandments, nearly everything that could go wrong did—until Charlton Heston stepped in to save the day, proving to be a true Moses in action.
Andy now speaks aboard cruise ships, where his engaging stories continue to draw enthusiastic crowds.
