Club Announces Partnership to Provide School Supplies to Local Schools
Club president Scott MacDonald met with San Diego District 3 Councilmember, Stephen Whitburn, and announced our club’s support for the drive to provided needed school supplies to local public schools in and near downtown. Club members are asked to bring supplies to the club meeting August 21.

Rotary Club Teams with City Councilmember Whitburn to Deliver School Supplies
The San Diego Downtown Breakfast Rotary club is pleased to partner with and support San Diego Councilmember Stephen Whitburn’s Back to School Drive initiative for public schools in District 3, which includes downtown San Diego. The club, based in downtown San Diego, has primarily supported downtown and nearby non-profits since its founding in 1990.
The Back-to-School Drive assembles school and classroom supplies for area schools including Grant T K-8, Florence Elementary, Washington Elementary, Birney Elementary, Garfield Elementary, Jefferson Elementary, Roosevelt International, McKinley Elementary, Golden Hill K-8, Garfield High, and San Diego High School.
Desired supplies to be donated include:

District 3 Councilmember Stephen Whitburn commented, “We welcome the Downtown Breakfast Rotary Club’s support and participation in this important drive to equip local schools with needed supplies as we approach a new school year. The Club has been active in supporting local charities for many years and we are particularly pleased they chose to make our efforts a priority as part of their youth service outreach.”
Rotary Club President Scott MacDonald said, “We want to make sure that all children have the supplies that they need to learn. This initiative fits with our club’s goal of increasing opportunity for all.”
Rotary is a service organization comprised of 1.4 million members worldwide and 60 clubs in. the San Diego area. The San Diego Downtown Breakfast Rotary Club meets Wednesday mornings at 7 am for breakfast at the University Club atop Symphony Tower., and guests are welcome. The Club’s Service Committees focus on local community projects, youth service, international service projects, and environmental service efforts.
