Many of our projects, such as the Piyali Learning Center (PLC) in rural India, have been funded for years. During this time, PLC has grown from little more than a hut to a fully functional, modern school serving more than 200 girls who are at risk of becoming victims of human trafficking. Several of our club members have visited PLC, and together with Rotary clubs from metropolitan Kolkata, have volunteered their time to help educate these girls and change their lives.
Other projects supported by our club include:
- Polio Plus (Worldwide)
- Power of Love (Zambia)
- Door of Faith Orphanage (Mexico)
- Rwandan Orphans Project (Rwanda)
- Fish Across the Border (Mexico)
- OMO Child (Ethiopia)
- St. Innocent Orphanage (Mexico)
- Project Peanut Butter (Tanzania and other countries)
- Romanian Orphans Project (Romania)
- Micro-finance for Coffee Growers (Guatemala and Mexico)
- Casas de Luz (Mexico)
When natural disasters strike, Rotary is there to help. Disaster relief efforts by our Club have included:
- Nepal Earthquake
- Philippine Typhoon
- Japan Tsunami
- Immigrants Relief in Europe
For many of these projects, our club partners with other clubs in the United States, as well as clubs in the countries where the projects are implemented. These partnerships help leverage funding and ensure the money is effectively used. Funding for these projects is enhanced by matching grants from our Rotary District (5340) and from The Rotary Foundation.
