Don Willis, the Holes for Heroes event chairman for the past 2 years, passed away peacefully in his sleep, on Friday, July 6, at his home in Rancho Santa Fe, California. He was an incredible person with boundless energy and passion for business and the military. A graduate of Miami University of Ohio, Don served his country in many ways, including NASA (Apollo Flight Controller), US Air Force Academy (Associate Professor) and USAF (Captain in Vietnam). Don was an accomplished businessman, serving as President of Eaglenest Ventures, LLC, and founding member of Alliant Techsystems (ATK) of Hopkins, MN, with over 30 years’ experience leading Fortune 500 companies in corporate strategy. He joined Rotary specifically to help serve the military community and through his leadership, Holes for Heroes (San Diego Downtown Breakfast Rotary Club’s largest annual fundraiser) continues to thrive.

As a memorial to Don's leadership and passion, the San Diego Downtown Breakfast Rotary Club Foundation has established the Don Willis Memorial Fund. All money donated to this memorial fund will be used to benefit Don’s military charities of choice such as Honor Flight.
