Rotary District 5340 and the Joan B. Kroc School of Peace Studies proudly present the 6th Annual Pathways to Peace Forum on Saturday, February 25, from 8:30 a.m. to noon.  This year's Peace Forum, entitled "Beyond Borders," will celebrate the relationship between our Rotary District and the Joan B. Kroc School of Peace Studies in creating and sustaining peace in the world.

The Forum will take place at the University of San Diego Joan B. Kroc Institute of Peace & Justice, and is free of charge.  Coffee, Mexican hot chocolate, pastries and breakfast burritos will be served starting at 8 a.m.

The Forum’s themes are very relevant to what is happening in our world today, with a focus on borders, particularly our border with Mexico.  Presentations include "Voices of Mexico: Peacebuilding in Sinaloa, Mexicali and Tijuana," "Street Gangs and Sex Trafficking in San Diego County," "Peacemakers, Systems Leadership, and Working Across Borders" and a presentation on how District 5340 Rotary Clubs have assisted the Tijuana Children's Hospital through its founder, Dr. Elizabeth Jones.  Our two Rotary Scholars this year, Yishak Kassa Tefferi and Jelena Starcevic, will present their work with border issues in Sudan and Serbia.

You are encouraged to attend and be inspired and motivated by information you will hear nowhere else.  Bring your family -- the event is suitable for middle school students and above.  Invite your clients and prospective Rotarians.  Enjoy a beautiful “peaceful” setting with a lavish breakfast.

We are excited!  For the first time, a 9-foot banner will be hung in the Rotunda of the Peace and Justice Institute honoring its relationship with our Rotary District.  So look for the Rotary Wheel.

Rotarians, their guests, Rotaractors and Interactors are all welcome! Register at www.rotary5340.org (go to the home page and look for the Calendar link on the left side of the page for the February 25 Peace Forum; only your name and e-mail address are required to complete registration.)  For further information, please contact Cynthia Villis at villis@sandiego.edu or 619-260-4686.   Or sign up with Sandra Schrift – sandra@schrift.com and tell her how many guests you are bringing.
