We were honored to host MaryAnne Pintar, Chair of the San Diego County Citizen Law Enforcement Review Board (CLERB), for an eye-opening presentation on law enforcement oversight. CLERB plays a critical role in our region by providing independent civilian oversight of the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department and county detention facilities.

During her talk, MaryAnne addressed the pressing crisis within our local jails—specifically tackling the urgent challenges surrounding higher-than-average rates of overdose and suicide, and what is being done to address them.
She also shared an inspiring look at CLERB’s history and progress. Over the decades, CLERB has steadily worked to build constructive, collaborative relationships with both Sheriff’s leadership and deputies' union representatives to foster systemic improvements.
Thank you, MaryAnne, for your dedicated leadership and for giving our community a transparent look at the essential work behind county law enforcement oversight!
