Dr. Lilly Cheng talked to the club last week about the history of the Chinese people in San Diego including their past restrictions on where they could live and what work they were allowed to do. Chinese laborers helped build many of the iconic San Diego landmarks including the Coronado Bridge and the Hotel Del Coronado. The Chinese Historical Society Museum is open on weekends on Third Avenue in downtown San Diego.
