Downtown San Diego Rotary commits $25,000 annually to fund transportation and program tuition for second-grade students so they can spend a day learning about leadership, teamwork and courage on the USS Midway, a decommissioned aircraft carrier. Through a longstanding partnership with the USS Midway Museum, we provide financial support for low-income schools across San Diego County.
Beyond a traditional field trip, this USS Midway experience brings social studies standards to life by exposing young learners to real-world examples of:
- Character
- Everyday service
- Impactful teamwork
The Downtown San Diego Rotary Club held a check presentation in May 2026 in support of the “No Child Left Ashore” program. Over the years, this program has served over10,000 students. We are honored to continue supporting this initiative and ensure that every San Diego county second grader is inspired by this piece of local history.
