How can we ever thank you
Those men and women we never knew
How do we ever thank someone
Who was in a plane we never flew
Heroes and Heroines all are whom we thank
For your ultimate sacrifice
And for your strength and wisdom
We share the pain and agony with your families -
left by this horrible strife
We try to share their loss and sorrow
And hold them all up in our prayers
But, truly, we can’t image the pain they feel
For the victims and their heirs
For the heroics that you did that day
For the selfless actions that you took
Our lives like yours are forever changed
For centuries your actions will be relived –
in class room history books
The horror that you witnessed
The agony that you felt
For all the innocent that perished that day
Is why in churches we have knelt
The agony seen in those re-runs
And in the pictures and videos shown of that horrible day
For all those lost in this disaster
Is for whom we will forever pray
But to see the flags a flying
And the signs that all say to us “Unite”
Your actions have brought our patriotism to a new high
As a memorial to your fateful flights
We are torn now between revenge and tears
For we too, all mourn your loss
We are still hypmotized at our TV sets
And still through sleepless nights we toss
Yes, we have all become united
In this time of pain and grief
Our flags are flying everywhere
But none gives your pain and hurt relief
But please know that we love you all
Even though we’ve never met
You and yours are heroes all
As now on God’s bended knee these newest angels set
So on behalf of this entire Country
And from each one of us who is alive
Know we thank you and yours for your sacrifice
Made so selfishly that others may survive
May God Bless you, our new best friends
And your families now so intent
And for the uncertain times that lay ahead
It is on our lives and on our Nation –
where we ask God’s blessing to be sent
Yes, we ask God to Bless us all
And pray that Right wins over Evil deeds
May Ol’ Glory always fly high overhead
May all terrorists soon be brought down on bended knees
But please know the tragedies you’ve suffered
And the ultimate sacrifice you gave
Will never be forgotten
And we thank you and yours for the many lives you saved!
God Bless you and your families for your heroism!
