Feeding Our Heroes

As Rotarians, we have many opportunities to give back to our community through volunteer work.  This week, 10 members of the San Diego Downtown Breakfast Rotary Club participated in the Feed Our Heroes program at the USO Neil Ash Airport Center.  As in past years, our club generously donated food (sandwiches, fruit, snacks and even Girl Scout cookies) and served hundreds of military personnel (mostly Marines this year) who had just completed Boot Camp and are traveling through San Diego on their way to military assignments. 

 

It’s always fun and rewarding to engage these young people in conversation, hear some of their stories, and express our gratitude for their service.  We’re happy when they leave the Center with a full stomach and a warmed heart. Oohrah!
